Syracuse track and field tallies 3 wins in UNC meet
The Syracuse track and field team spent the weekend at the UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., and came back with seven top-three finishes and three wins during Saturday’s one-day event.
Flings Owusu-Agyapong and Michael LeBlanc each won the 100-meter dash, while Lorraine Hill won the javelin. Owusu-Agyapong’s 11.66 was fast enough for a regional qualifying mark.
Jumper Bernard Bush tallied two second-place finishes, in the long jump and the triple jump. His 7.40-meter leap was good enough for an NCAA Regional standard.
In the men’s 100-meter dash, Syracuse placed three sprinters in the top five – LeBlanc in first, Sham Lewis in fourth and Antoine Clark in fifth. All three turned in IC4A-qualifying times.
No team score was kept in the event. Syracuse will compete in the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational and the Cortland Classic April 17-18.
