On Friday night, rapper J. Cole took on the Carrier Dome with R&B singer Elle Varner as his opening act. The concert was presented by the Theta Xi chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. Cole’s album, “Born Sinner”, was No. 1 on the Billboard top 100 chart in the summer of 2013. Proceeds from the concert went to the March of Dimes Foundation and the Sigma Beta Club, the fraternity’s mentorship program for middle and high school students, as well as several local foundations and schools.
