Students started protesting Friday morning in Schine Student Center and later moved outside of the Carrier Dome, where a Spring Reception event for accepted students was taking place. Recognize US, a student group, presented a list of demands to Chancellor Kent Syverud at the sit-in. Protesters chanted and handed out the list to students.
Protests were sparked after a video surfaced with students in the Theta Tau fraternity using racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic slurs. Syracuse University suspended the fraternity on Wednesday morning.
Multiple copies of grievances and lists of demands were posted at the entrance of Schine Student Center on Friday morning, in protest of the Theta Tau fraternity video.
