Syracuse University found a temporary fix on Thursday to the broken water main affecting water services at Watson Hall, according to an SU official.
The university’s facilities team connected a different water line to Watson, returning toilets and showers to working condition, resident life director Terra Peckskamp said in an email sent Thursday night. Watson lost drinking water Wednesday after a water main broke several times on Waverly Avenue.
SU shut off the building’s water at 11:30 a.m. Thursday to finish a repair, according to an email from Resident Life Specialist Mary Ellen Albiker. She said water would be available for use and consumption after 1 p.m.
But Peckskamp’s Thursday night email said residents should continue to drink bottled water given out at Watson’s main desk. The university expects to have a permanent repair for the main by this weekend, she added.
