On Senior Night in the Carrier Dome, Syracuse was coming off a win against Wake Forest. Virginia came in 25-2, with its two losses coming against Duke. Despite the disparity of talent, the Orange held a 34-32 lead at half. But with only 19 second half points and the 3-point shooting — specifically Kyle Guy off passes from Ty Jerome — the Cavaliers offense picked up and blew out SU, 79-53.

Syracuse honored its seniors on Monday night in the Carrier Dome, with nearly 30,000 fans in attendance. Senior point guard Frank Howard walked to midcourt with his mom and dad.

Freshman sharpshooter Buddy Boeheim scored 11 points, tying the team lead, on a trio of 3-pointers. He added one assist and two rebounds over 23 minutes on the floor.

Syracuse moved the ball as well as it has all season, Boeheim said. But that was the first half. UVA finished the game on a 37-10 run.

Right before the second half, Syracuse appeared to be right with a top five team. For the third time against a top-five team, Syracuse had a lead at the break. Then the lead vanished.
