The chapel goes dark except for the light of the candles and the blue uplighting behind the performers as they sing “Silent Night” by Frank Sinatra. With a sold out audience, the chapel was still well lit by all of the people as they held their candles.

Hendricks Chapel Choir director, José “Peppie” Calvar, leads the choir in a number of holiday tunes throughout the night. Calvar was the conductor for all of the performances done by the Hendricks Chapel Choir.

Holidays at Hendricks features performances from several of Syracuse University’s musical ensembles. The Hendricks Chapel Choir, among the jazz ensembles and orchestra groups, brought music to the audience.

Ensemble groups from Setnor School of Music performed many well known holiday tunes throughout the night. The groups worked in collaboration with each other to prepare for the event and provide a performance filled with holiday cheer.

The Syracuse University orchestra joins the Hendricks Chapel Choir in playing a number of different holiday songs. Two of the musicians adorned their bassoons with little santa hats to get into the festive spirit.

Projections of snowflakes are cast all over the walls of Hendricks Chapel for the musical concert. Holidays at Hendricks was a huge success with sold out performances on Sunday afternoon.

As a souvenir of the performance, Hendricks Chapel hands out free mugs to every person in attendance. With the annual success of the event, the mugs were distinguished by their unique design and year.
