Syracuse guard Elijah Moore will enter the transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton reported on Saturday. Moore becomes the Orange’s third player this season to enter the portal, following Kyle Cuffe Jr. and Chris Bell.

Moore leaves SU after his freshman year, where he scored 5.2 points per game in 15.7 minutes on average. The guard was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 59 player in the 2024 recruiting class and was joined by five-star Donnie Freeman and Petar Majstorvic in Syracuse’s class.

Heading into his college career, Moore was known for his marksman 3-point shooting and signature elbow celebration. After playing sparingly across the Orange’s first five games, Moore put up a 19-point performance against Cornell on Nov. 27 before dropping 24 points against Tennessee next time out. He then made his first of 16 starts against UAlbany on Dec. 10.

From that point, however, Moore only scored in double figures three more times the remainder of the year, battled an injury and saw his minutes significantly decrease in conference play. Since the calendar turned to 2025, Moore failed to eclipse 20-plus minutes in a single game.

With Moore and Cuffe in the portal and Jaquan Carlos and Lucas Taylor graduating, SU’s lone guard with eligibility remaining still with the program is J.J. Starling. The senior will be joined by incoming freshmen Kiyan Anthony and Luke Fennell, but the Orange will likely add more guards in the portal, which opens Monday.
