Syracuse forward Petar Majstorovic has entered the transfer portal, 247Sports reported Monday. The freshman played in 31 games for Syracuse this season after committing to the Orange in August. He becomes the fifth SU player to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining Chris Bell, Elijah Moore, Kyle Cuffe Jr. and Chance Westry.
Earlier last week, syracuse.com | The Post Standard reported Majstorovic would return for his sophomore season but later updated the report, saying he was undecided on his future.
Majstorovic arrived at Syracuse after playing in France’s under-21 league for Asvel Basket Lyon-Villeurbanne. The forward never started a game for the Orange and was mostly used as a rotational piece, limiting his production. Majstorovic averaged 2.6 points per game and reached double figures once, which came on Jan. 25 against Pittsburgh.
He played a career-high 26 minutes on Feb. 18 in SU’s other matchup with the Panthers, but outside of that, his contributions for SU were insignificant. Majstorovic gave Syracuse frontcourt depth alongside Eddie Lampkin Jr., Jyáre Davis, Naheem McLeod and Donnie Freeman. Adrian Autry didn’t rely heavily on Majstorovic, who played fewer than 14 minutes in his final six games.
Majstorovic’s move means Syracuse’s frontcourt will look much different next season with Lampkin, Davis and McLeod all graduating. Freeman is the lone returner, while the Orange also added former UCLA forward William Kyle III last week.
