Syracuse track and field traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina, this weekend to compete in North Carolina State’s Raleigh Relays.

On Thursday night, Julian Franjieh ran a personal best of 8:47.74, placing 14th in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Teammate Solomon Holden-Betts (8:50.08) finished just behind him in 15th place.

In the 5000-meter, Ruben Rojas Betanzos clocked in at a personal-best time of 14:19.28. Freshmen Omar Alsaidi (14:24.33) and Connell Alford (14:45.59) also got their first outdoor appearances in Thursday’s 5000-meter.

Gabriel Planty ended with a time of 30:32.24 in the 10,000-meter.

Three of the Orange’s women competed Friday in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with Baneet Bains finishing in the top 30 with a 10:40.44 time. Justus Holden-Betts and Bethany Steiner also competed, coming in at 11:02.22 and 11:03.45, respectively.

Syracuse runners will compete at both Stanford and Cortland next weekend.
