Former Auburn center Oyindamola Akinbolawa has transferred to Syracuse, On3 reported Tuesday. Akinbolawa marks SU’s third addition from the transfer portal ahead of the 2025-26 season, joining USC transfer forward Dominique Darius and former Miami forward Aurora Almon.
Akinbolawa reportedly was down to Arizona State and Washington on April 1, but Syracuse head coach Felisha Legette-Jack and her staff made a late push.
Akinbolawa, who stands at 6-foot-5, joins the Orange after averaging 3.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game as a junior, both career highs. The Nigeria native started in 14 of 29 games for the Tigers in 2024-25 and set a career-high with 10 points against Louisiana on Dec 18, 2024.
As a freshman, Akinbolawa appeared in 15 games, averaging 1.1 points on 50% shooting. The next season, she nearly doubled her scoring output to 2.1 points per game while tallying a career-high 13 steals in 22 games.
Now, Akinbolawa will spend her final collegiate season with the Orange. With its three portal additions, Syracuse has replenished its frontcourt after the departures of Kyra Wood, Izabel Varejão and Saniaa Wilson, who all ran out of eligibility after last season.
