Former Syracuse offensive lineman David Wohlabaugh Jr. has transferred to Virginia, he announced on social media Saturday. Wohlabaugh appeared in 11 games with the Orange across 2023-24.

On April 7, SU head coach Fran Brown discussed the possibility of the redshirt senior leaving the program, saying he was thinking about entering the portal. Brown said Wohlabaugh’s decision wasn’t related to playing time, adding he thinks the offensive lineman is an NFL player. The redshirt senior entered the transfer portal on April 18.

Wohlabaugh filled in for an injured Da’Metrius Weatherspoon at left tackle in 2024 and performed exceptionally. He started three games and appeared in nine, grading at an 80.0, according to Pro Football Focus. The success came after recovering from a season-ending injury early in 2023.

He was ranked the No. 105 offensive tackle in the transfer portal according to 247Sports and left at the same time as Enrique Cruz Jr., who transferred to Kansas. With Wohlabaugh’s departure, the Orange’s depth will take over as redshirt sophomore Trevion Mack steps into the left tackle position and Weatherspoon moves to right tackle.
