Former Syracuse guard Chance Westry has transferred to University of Alabama Birmingham, 247Sports reported Tuesday. Westry appeared in just three games across two seasons with the Orange after transferring in from Auburn in 2023.

Westry joined Auburn as the No. 39-ranked player in the 2022 recruiting class, choosing the Tigers over offers from LSU, Nebraska and Arizona State. He played limited time after a preseason leg injury and transferred to Adrian Autry and Syracuse for the 2023-24 season.

The 6-foot-6 guard suffered another leg injury in training camp and missed the entire season. This season, he added depth in the backcourt against Tennessee, Notre Dame and UAlbany but didn’t appear the rest of the way due to an undisclosed illness. He never scored in his Syracuse career.

Westry joins the Blazers after they made the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament in the 2024-25 season. He’s the third SU player to transfer from the Orange, joining Petar Majstorovic, after he transferred to Long Beach State, and Elijah Moore, after he moved to Utah.
