Former Syracuse guard Elijah Moore is transferring to Utah, On3 reported Wednesday. Moore, a former four-star recruit, averaged 5.2 points per game in his lone season with the Orange. The Bronx native was part of a three-player 2024 recruiting class alongside five-star Donnie Freeman and Petar Majstorovic, who transferred to Long Beach State on Wednesday.

Moore entered his freshman campaign known for his signature elbow celebration and marksman-like 3-point shooting. However, he made just 31.5% of his 3s while averaging 15.7 minutes per contest. The guard began the season coming off the bench, though he earned a starting spot following a 19-point performance against Cornell before pouring in a career-high 24 against Tennessee in SU’s ensuing game.

Upon entering Syracuse’s starting five, Moore saw his production steeply decline, only scoring in double figures three more times the remainder of the year. Once conference play began, Moore saw his minutes start to significantly decrease before an injury forced him to miss time.

He’ll now spend his sophomore season at Utah, which finished the 2024-25 campaign 16-17. The Utes fired head coach Craig Smith in February before hiring Alex Jensen a month later. Moore is the third player to transfer to Jensen’s squad over the offseason, joining James Okonkwo (Akron) and Terrence Brown (Fairleigh Dickinson).
