Former Georgia Tech forward Ibrahim Souare has committed to Syracuse, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported Sunday. A 6-foot-9 forward, Souare is the fourth pickup in the transfer portal for SU, following William Kyle III, Nate Kingz and Naithan George.

This past season, Souare made 14 starts in 30 appearances for GT as a redshirt freshman. Souare averaged 17 minutes per game but only totaled 2.8 points per game. Though he shot nearly 60% from the field, the forward only attempted 62 total shots.

A Conakry, Guinea, native, Souare attended Dream City Christian National High School in Glendale, Arizona, where he wasn’t a highly sought-after recruit. Coming out of high school, Souare received offers from Georgia Tech, Niagara and Oregon before committing to GT in August 2023. After redshirting during his first season, Souare earned limited minutes this season but entered the transfer portal on Thursday. Souare wasn’t in the portal long, with Syracuse picking him up just two days after adding his former teammate George.

Souare is the second frontcourt addition this offseason, alongside Kyle, as Syracuse looks to completely revamp that part of its squad. Eddie Lampkin Jr. and Jyáre Davis were SU’s most productive forwards last season, but both have since moved on from the program. For now, SU’s frontcourt is made up of Kyle, a UCLA transfer, Donnie Freeman — who announced he’s returning for his sophomore season — and Souare.
