Former Syracuse forward Petar Majstorovic has committed to Long Beach State, he announced on social media Wednesday. Majstorovic entered the transfer portal on March 31 after averaging just 13.2 minutes per game as a freshman with SU.
Majstorovic, a native of France, joined the Orange in August after appearing in 34 games in the French ProA U-21 league in 2023-24, where he averaged 9.7 points per game for Asvel Basket Lyon-Villeurbanne. He was meant to add depth to Syracuse’s frontcourt alongside Eddie Lampkin Jr., Naheem McLeod, Chris Bell, Jyáre Davis and Donnie Freeman.
However, Majstorovic was ineffective in his lone season with SU. In his limited playing time, the freshman averaged 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 48.4% from the field. This led to him entering the transfer portal after Syracuse’s season ended in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.
Despite only Freeman returning from their frontcourt unit last season, the Orange have replenished in the transfer portal. They added former UCLA center William Kyle III and former Georgia Tech forward Ibrahim Souare, along with replacing other departures with the additions of Naithan George and Nate Kingz.
Syracuse’s transfer class will pair with its strong freshmen haul to create a new-look roster. The Orange received commitments from four-stars Sadiq White and Kiyan Anthony — the son of former SU basketball player Carmelo Anthony — to headline the 10th-best freshman class in the country, per 247Sports.
