Syracuse University has partnered with Graduate by Hilton to build a hotel on University Avenue, it announced in a Wednesday news release. The hotel is set to open in fall 2027.

The hotel, which will be built across from the University Avenue garage at the corner of Harrison Street, will feature approximately 200 rooms, a full-service restaurant and a rooftop bar, according to the release. The Hardy Group will serve as the project manager and LeChase will manage the hotel’s construction.

“This collaboration will create a vibrant hub for both our campus and the broader Syracuse community, offering a welcoming destination during key moments like Orange game days, reunions, graduations, campus visits and beyond,” Brett Padgett, SU’s senior vice president and chief financial officer, said in the release.

John Papazoglou, SU’s senior vice president and chief operations officer, said the hotel would provide a much-needed venue for visitors and events in Syracuse while contributing to the “vibrancy” of the city.

The announcement comes after SU converted the former Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center into Orange Hall, which opened at the start of this academic year, and acquired the Hotel Skyler Syracuse in March 2024. The university also plans to build two new dormitories on Waverly and Comstock Avenues, which will include a new dining hall, as part of its ongoing construction plans.
