Former Miami forward Aurora Almon has transferred to Syracuse, the program announced on social media Monday. Almon played at the Webb School (Tennessee) with current SU guard Angelica Velez in high school.
Similar to Velez, Almon was a four-star recruit in high school. She ultimately chose Miami and reclassified to enroll early for the 2023-24 season. However, after taking a medical redshirt for the 2023-24 season, Almon played in just 15 games across the 2024-25 season, averaging 1.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in the sparse playing time.
Almon is the second player the Orange have added out of the transfer portal, following former USC forward Dominique Darius’ commitment Sunday. The two forwards will look to replace the production of graduating senior Kyra Wood, who led SU with 6.9 rebounds per game while also averaging a career-high 11.6 points per game.
While Syracuse hasn’t seen any players enter the transfer portal thus far, its roster has been severely depleted. Alongside Wood, leading scorer Georgia Woolley and secondary contributors Izabel Varejão and Dominique Camp are out of eligibility. SU will need to rely on its returners — headlined by guard Sophie Burrows — and its transfer class to rebound from an underwhelming 2024-25 season that ended in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.
