Syracuse women’s lacrosse (9-6, 5-3 Atlantic Coast) fell five spots to No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse Week 10 Poll released Monday. It’s SU’s lowest placement in the poll since holding the No. 18 slot in the final ranking of the 2018 season.

The dip comes after unranked Virginia Tech upset the then-No. 11 Orange on Saturday. The loss was SU’s first loss to an unranked opponent since 2018 and under fourth-year head coach Kayla Treanor.

Against the Hokies, SU never stood a chance as it fell behind 4-1 in the first quarter. VT’s Lauren Render sniped home a game-high seven goals as Emma Ward’s late five points weren’t enough for the Orange to battle back. Virginia Tech held on for a 14-11 victory, sending SU spiraling further down the rankings.

Syracuse’s sixth loss gives it the most in a regular season since 2018. The Orange finish their 2025 regular season against No. 2 Boston College Thursday before, which is a must-win to keep their postseason hopes alive in the ACC Tournament.
