Syracuse women’s rowing fell from No. 10 to No. 11 in the Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll, which was released Tuesday. Similarly, three days after the Orange’s first regatta of 2025, the B1G/ACC/Ivy Dual in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, they also fell a spot in the poll.

SU competed in the Cayuga Cup Saturday in Saratoga Springs, New York, against then-No. 6 Yale and Cornell. The Orange defeated the Big Red in every race, finishing before them by more than a 20-second margin in every event but the 3V4. However, Syracuse never placed within six seconds of Yale, which jumped to No. 5 in Tuesday’s poll.

On Saturday, SU’s 3V4 boat (8:35.38) couldn’t contend with Yale’s (8:13.28). The Orange’s 2V8 (7:11.54) also placed second in a landslide in favor of the Bulldogs (6:56.05).

Syracuse’s best performance of the day was the 3V8 in its season debut. The Orange (7:11.08) stayed close with the Bulldogs (7:04.36) and bested the Big Red (7:43.72) by over thirty seconds. Still, SU had six second-place finishes compared to zero first-place finishes.

The Orange swapped places in the poll with Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia. The Cavaliers didn’t race on Saturday or Sunday, but they competed at the B1G/ACC Regatta on March 29 in Columbus, Ohio. UVA split six races with then-No. 15 Ohio State and lost four of six head-to-head matchups against then-No. 10 Michigan.

While they will not face each other, Syracuse and Virginia will race against No. 2 Stanford and No. 8 Cal Saturday and Sunday at the Redwood Shores Regatta in Redwood Shores, California.
