Syracuse women’s rowing jumped from No. 11 to No. 10 in the Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll, which was released Tuesday. Through four polls thus far in 2025, the Orange have been ranked No. 10 three times and No. 11 once, which was on March 25.
SU hasn’t competed in 10 days, but a poor performance from now-No. 13 Michigan on Saturday at the Big Ten/ACC Challenge catapulted the Orange above the Wolverines, who most recently held the No. 10 spot. Michigan’s fall was sparked by dropping the 1V8 by five seconds and the 2V8 by nearly eight seconds to Virginia.
Syracuse faced Michigan on March 22 at the Big Ten/ACC/Ivy Dual in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, splitting four races. The Orange’s 2V8 (6:37.0) and 2V4 (7:30.9) boats were victorious. Meanwhile, the Wolverines’ 1V4 (7:22.8) defeated SU’s (7:25.74) and their 1V8 (6:27.17) prevailed by under a second. Syracuse also competed against No. 12 Penn and No. 15 Ohio State throughout the day.
With many moving parts in the recent CRCA polls, the Orange can leapfrog more programs on Saturday. SU is participating in the Cayuga Cup in Saratoga Springs, New York, against No. 6 Yale and Cornell.
The Bulldogs also haven’t raced in over a week but were dominant at the Ivy/Big Ten Dust Up on March 22. Yale won nine of 10 races, which included victories over Michigan and Ohio State. Meanwhile, the Big Red are set to participate in their second regatta of the season.
