They didn’t give me enough words for this. To create a little more space I’m sacrificing the inspirational introduction. Sorry to disappoint.

Stephanie: I told my parents after like a week last fall, it’s going to be a big deal to be able to say “I know Stephanie Wright” someday. I don’t think there is anyone in this house or at this school who I’ve learned more from. Thank you for putting up with me through my many mistakes of varying severities. Thank you for taking my random phone calls at any hour of the day, somehow fixing my destroyed budget and saving me moments before a panic attack. Thank you for breaking up every ugly, long sentence like the one before this in final reads. I know that made you cringe. You’re an incredibly gifted leader and journalist. It’s been an honor getting to learn from you this year.

Delia: This is too sad, I don’t want to write this. Thank you for becoming one of my closest friends at this school this past year and for reminding me I’m going to be fine daily. I often needed it. I’m sorry I won’t be here to support you more directly next semester, but know that I’m always pulling for you and just a call away. You’re so ready for this job. I’m really going to miss you. You’re fine.

Cooper: I’ve never told you this, but your writing is the reason I first showed up here. I don’t remember the story, but I was impressed by your wit and takes in some column I found lying on a table in Newhouse last winter. It was from that same print that I copied down the editor email and reached out. Thanks for all the late night drives and words of encouragement. I was always happier on a tough print after talking ball or complaining to you in management. Enjoy retirement.

Kendall: When I first showed up at the DO last March, I was terrified and felt like a screw up the entire time. Honestly, I didn’t really know if the paper was for me. It was your mentorship and compassion that really made me feel comfortable spreading my wings here, so thank you. The DO is incredibly lucky to call you its new editor-in-chief.

Julia: ¡Mi jefa original! Thank you for all of your wisdom in my transition into news editor. Your sacrificing blood, sweat, and tears while also being fun and making us all laugh was incredibly inspiring. I’m a Julia fan for life.

Ben: Thanks for always being there to listen to me complain and just talk about stuff. It was great to have someone in a similar situation to myself in so many of my classes. In the chaos of daily life, it was always good to know I wasn’t alone. Enjoy the trail this summer brother, see you out there.

Henry: From the random new guy from Buff to one of my favorite people I’ve met in college. You are a machine, DaleyOrange. I’m forever grateful for you, can’t wait to see what you do in sports.

James: You’re one of the chillest dudes I know. I forget who said it during prodo the other day, but it’s true; you’re one of my best friends at this paper. I’m gonna miss you. Kendall and Rose got themselves a really special DME.

Rose: You’re going to be an epic ME. We missed your energy this semester, the DO is so lucky to be getting you back!

Aiden: We made it. Sorry I was so disorganized on dig. stuff this semester. The Emma Ward print was easily my worst print of the semester, but it might be my favorite just because I’m proud to have my byline on there next to you and Cooper. You’re a great writer and an even better guy.

Justin: The Girsh era of DO sports will be studied at Newhouse someday. Sports thrived under you despite mediocre teams, and somehow through it all you still wrote this paper’s best stories every week. You’re a stud.

Lucía: You have the hardest job here. I took VIS207 this semester (so I’m a pro) and don’t get how you guys crank out beautiful prints every single week. Thanks for your patience on display and for always bringing us snacks from Shaw. I’ll never forget our delirious conversations at ungodly hours of the morning fixing headlines.

Davis: I don’t know how you put up with all these annoying journalism kids. This paper wouldn’t have been able to function without you. Thank you for sacrificing so much time and energy so we can do what we do. The DO will miss its MVP.

Kate: We missed you big time this semester, I’ll try not to be offended that you took off for my semester as news editor. Delia is very lucky to be getting you back. See you in the spring!

Shivika: My future VP! No seriously, you’ll be leading the ticket. It was really fun having you in news this semester. I’m super excited that you’re staying on.

Madeline: You’re one of the funniest people I’ve met at this place, news is so lucky to be getting you back for another semester. No offense to you or Mr. Goodheart, but it’s pronounced “Br-ahh-t-wurst,” respectfully.

Chloe: I’m so excited for you to be a news asst. next semester! It has been a privilege to watch you grow this spring. You bring a rare level of commitment to this paper — and that’s saying something. Super excited to see more of your bylines!

Arabella: When I met you randomly in English class last fall, I had no idea that you’d soon become one of the biggest personalities in news. Thank you for the many important stories you wrote this semester and for always bringing lots of laughter to the newsroom.

Arwen: It’s never ideal having to bring a new in-house staffer on in the middle of a semester, but you made it incredibly easy. Your willingness to jump right in the mix and write some tough stories while learning all the weird rules and habits in house was awesome!

Anna: You were the first freshman I ever had to train on anything. From your first SA stories to your time on copy to regularly writing this semester, it’s been a joy to watch you grow as a writer. Hope to see more of your bylines next fall!

Zak: Thanks for all the laughs last semester. You made me hate philly sports slightly less, which is impressive.

Cole: You light up every room you walk into. Thanks for dealing with my very late requests for graphics. The DO, its readers and I are all going to miss you.

Flynn: Goat. Thank you for turning every single one of my terrible illo pitches into a beautiful dom. You’ve changed the way this paper uses illustrations forever, we are all very grateful.

Ilana: Go ‘Chuters! You’re awesome. I’m so excited to see all the amazing prints you are going to design next year. I am staying in news_print literally just to watch you ball out.

Solange: Thank you for taking all of my coverages on such short notice. You’re a gifted photographer, we were lucky to have you.

Lily: YOU KNOW CESCO?

2025 Spring Staff: I’ve done so many of you dirty. All of you deserve an individual thank you. Just know I appreciate each of you a lot. Always here for a DO friend.

Mom, Dad, Reeve and Tucker: You guys are my rock. Wouldn’t be here without you, wouldn’t have made it either. Love you all and eternally grateful.

If you go to Syracuse University, you should stop by 230 Euclid. It’ll change your life.

Over and out.
