As a freshman, I was desperate to get involved with the Daily Orange. Thank you to Nora for giving me that chance! I’ve grown so much as an artist, and getting to work here cemented my passion for editorial illustration that I wouldn’t have found without it. To any artistic people reading this: get involved with what you care about outside your art! Working at the DO gave me great experience collaborating with people I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else.
To everyone I met and worked with, I can’t wait to see what you all do! If you ever need an illustration, you know who to call 🙂
Lucía: When I first came in house, you were the one that made it somewhere I wanted to be. Thank you for teaching me about the inner workings of the DO and introducing me to everyone at the start. I loved working on so many fun spreads, guides, and covers with you! We absolutely crushed it together. I hope we can keep in touch! I’ll be missing those immaculate vis room vibes.
James “Jimmy” Hoagland: OP was quite the adventure this past semester, but it was exciting to whip up illos for those stories. Thank you for always keeping me in the loop with the OP section craziness, I’ll definitely miss it. Good luck as digital managing editor! You’ll crush it 😀
Cole Ross: Yeah Glo! Genuinely the funniest person at the DO. Thank you for keeping things entertaining in vis, I’ll miss all your snarky comments so much!
Hannah Mesa: Thank you for being my illustration gossip buddy this semester. You’re going to do a fantastic job next semester! Remember, if you ever need help, I’m only a call/text/slack away 🙂
Joe Zhao: JOOOOEEE!!! The literal GOAT of vis. You’ve done quite literally every job there; photo, graphics, illos, video. Enjoy your newfound freedom!
Solange Jain: My favorite floor time buddy during budget! You ran an incredible photo section this semester, I was always in awe.
Ben Butler: The absolute GOAT at illustration pitches. Thank you so much for always being on top of pitches, and giving us lots of time to do our best work. The illustration team greatly appreciates you!
Ella Chan: I wish we were in house at the same time more often! It was great to see you around nonetheless. Hope to see the great projects you make in the future!
Stephanie Wright: Thank you for keeping us in check with the more “political” illos for OP and News this year! I’ve learned so much from your edits and can’t wait to apply that knowledge in the future.
Cooper Andrews: Thank you for introducing the idea of sports illos! That one football guide spread was a bit rough, but I’m so glad we have more sports illos to look forward to now.
Nora Benko: Thank you so much for the opportunity of a lifetime with Illustration Editor. Your advice has carried me through this year and helped me learn so much about how to spot needed revisions to illos.
