Four-star wide receiver Amare Gough has committed to Syracuse’s 2026 class, he announced on social media Saturday. Nicknamed “Rabbit,” Gough becomes the highest-rated recruit in SU’s class.
Hailing from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Virginia, Gough chose the Orange over Atlantic Coast Conference foes Virginia Tech, Boston College, NC State and Virginia along with out-of-conference teams like West Virginia, Indiana and Maryland. Gough, a four-star recruit according to 247Sports, instantly becomes the highest-rated player in SU’s class, tied at a 90 grade with Florida edge rusher Jarius Rodgers.
He’s the ninth-best player in the state of Virginia and the 34th-ranked wide receiver in the country. At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Gough is also a star on the track with a 10.97 100m dash. It’s a facet SU head coach Fran Brown and his staff like to explore in recruits, helping grow other portions of SU’s athletic programs too.
The highly-touted prospect recently visited Syracuse during the weekend of its spring game. With Gough’s commitment, SU’s 2026 class is now ranked ninth in the country and remains second in the ACC behind only Clemson.
