2025 center Tiefing Diawara has committed to Syracuse, syracuse.com reported Monday. Diawara, a Mali native, bolsters SU’s frontcourt with his imposing 7-foot-3 wingspan. He’s Syracuse’s fifth commit and the first center in its 2025 class.

According to 247Sports, Diawara chose the Orange over Power Four programs such as Baylor and Kansas State.

After spending several years with the Italian club Orange1 Basket Bassano, Diawara finished his high school career at DME Academy at St. John’s Northwestern, a prep school located in Delafield, Wisconsin. He also plays for Team Herro, which is on the Nike EYBL Circuit and sponsored by Miami Heat shooting guard Tyler Herro. Across 11 games with Team Herro, Diawara has averaged 4.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 18.1 minutes per game.

Diawara gives the Orange some much needed size, as his 6-foot-11, 240-pound frame makes him the tallest player on their roster. SU’s other center options – William Kyle III and Ibrahim Souare – both stand two inches shorter than him at just 6-foot-9.
