No. 1 class of 2026 goalie Reagan O’Donovan has flipped her commitment from Syracuse to Penn State, she announced on social media Wednesday. The decision comes in the wake of former SU head coach Kayla Treanor’s departure from the Orange for the Nittany Lions on May 21.
O’Donovan originally committed to Syracuse on Sept. 2, 2024, becoming the top commit in its 2026 class. However, the program has changed drastically since her initial decision. Syracuse, a team typically heralded as one of the nation’s best, went 10-9 in 2025. Pair that with Treanor’s exit, the coach who recruited O’Donovan, and SU looks unrecognizable.
Along with her status as the No. 1 goalie in the class, O’Donovan is currently ranked as the No. 5 overall player and one of 30 five-star prospects nationally, per Inside Lacrosse.
At McDonough High School (Maryland), she’s excelled in net. Across her three-year career, O’Donovan has only lost six games as a starter, helping McDonough to a 52-6 record in that span. She’s also starred for her club team, M&D Lacrosse Club.
SU hasn’t chosen a full-time replacement for Treanor. And so far, eight former players have entered the transfer portal, most notably star attack Olivia Adamson and draw control specialist Meghan Rode.
