Former Ohio State short stick defensive midfielder Dante Bowen has transferred to Syracuse for his graduate season, James Hogan of the Lacrosse Network reported Sunday. Bowen totaled 10 ground balls and four caused turnovers in 12 games with the Buckeyes in 2025.

The Brampton, Ontario, native fills a need for the Orange at short stick defensive midfield. Four-year starter Carter Rice graduated this season and was selected by the California Redwoods in the Premier League Lacrosse Draft. Do-it-all midfielder Sam English also departed after two seasons with the Orange and heads to the Redwoods with the third overall pick in the PLL Draft. Plus, Nathan LeVine, who played in 13 games this season, also graduated.

The only returning short stick defensive midfielders for the Orange are Ryder Ochoa and Gavin Gibbs. Ochoa appeared in 19 games in 2025, while Gibbs only saw action in three matchups.

Now, SU adds Bowen to provide necessary depth to a weak spot on its roster next season, where it’ll look to improve upon its Final Four finish this campaign.
