Syracuse women’s lacrosse has hired Nicole Levy as an assistant coach, the program announced Tuesday. Levy will join first-year head coach Regy Thorpe, who was hired in June after Kayla Treanor left for Penn State in May.

Levy attended Syracuse from 2016-19, where she played with Treanor for a season, while Thorpe was an assistant under then-head coach Gary Gait. After her time with the Orange, she spent three seasons as Colorado’s offensive coordinator. Levy then joined Florida for three years and coached alongside Thorpe before following him back to central New York.

“It truly is an honor to return home to such an amazing program and what I would consider ‘my dream staff’,” Levy said in a statement released by Syracuse Athletics. “This program means so much to me, and I am excited to continue honoring the tradition of a creative and competitive environment.”

During her playing career, Levy thrived as a marquee attack. As a freshman, she earned Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year honors after totaling 68 points and helped Syracuse make its seventh Final Four. Levy became the 10th player in program history to record at least 200 points, finishing with 222, while her 81 assists are the eighth-most ever at SU.

On Thorpe’s staff, Levy will help push Syracuse over the top as it tries to win its first-ever national championship. The Orange made back-to-back Final Fours under Treanor but fell to Boston College both times. Last season, Levy coached in the Final Four with Thorpe at Florida but, like the Orange, couldn’t get over the hump.
