Former Syracuse attack Olivia Adamson is transferring to Northwestern, she announced on social media Tuesday. After suffering a lower-body injury against Cornell on February 18, Adamson was ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 season 10 days later.
She ultimately decided to enter the transfer portal for her final season of eligibility at season’s end, ending her SU career with 129 goals and 190 points. This marks the second straight year an SU player has transferred to the Wildcats, following goalie Delaney Sweitzer last year.
Last season, Adamson was expected to lead SU’s attack alongside Emma Ward, with both players registering over 80 points in 2024. Adamson had gotten off to a blistering start prior to her injury, leading SU with 16 points in wins over UAlbany, Maryland and Cornell.
Adamson’s injury derailed SU’s season, as opponents keyed in on Ward and the Orange struggled to replace her offensive production. After making the Final Four the last two seasons, SU limped to a 10-9 record in 2025, failing to make it past the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Now, Adamson will join a Northwestern squad that is coming off a 12-8 loss to North Carolina in the national title game. In her last year of eligibility, she’ll look to bring the Wildcats their ninth championship in program history.
