A woman in her 20s was killed at the intersection of University Avenue and East Adams Street Thursday morning after being hit by a car, according to Syracuse Police Department.

A 24-year-old man who suffered traumatic injuries died after being transported to Upstate University Hospital, according to a 10 p.m. release.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with officers.

The crash, adjacent to several Syracuse University properties, happened at around 10:36 a.m., according to dispatch data from the Onondaga County 911 Center.

SU’s Department of Public Safety released an alert at 11:24 a.m. urging residents to avoid the area as SPD continues its investigation.

The intersection is currently closed-off due to a large police presence, according to the DPS message.

Multiple SU buildings — including the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, Marshall Square Mall and the College of Professional Studies — are in the immediate vicinity of the affected area.
