Dazed, formerly known as Redgate, is no longer hosting live music shows at the off-campus house anymore, the student venue announced Wednesday afternoon.

The students who run the venue took to @dazedcuse on Instagram to announce the news and show their appreciation for the artists, vendors and students who came to shows. Dazed’s landlord and insurance company said shows are no longer allowed in the house with the red torii gate out front, according to the Instagram story post.

“This past year of music, parties, and unforgettable nights has meant the absolute world to us,” @dazedcuse said on Instagram.

Six rising Syracuse University seniors — Philip Martins, Polly Hoffman, Megan Halsey, Samara Vachani, Kieran Romano and Ella Delucia — inherited Redgate after it closed in the spring of 2024.

The music venue, which originally opened in August 2022, began hosting shows under its new name, Dazed, last fall. Dazed continued the legacy of Redgate with local musicians in the basement and vendors on the first floor, while also incorporating new ventures, such as themed parties.

Dazed formed a supportive network and grew its audience with other off-campus venues such as Crater 315, Sage Haus and the Cage Collective.

“As avid members of the music scene, here in Syracuse, we promise to continue to uplift, support, and participate in making music flourish in the community, as well as continuing to collaborate with other venues,” @dazedcuse said on their Instagram story.
