Class of 2027 short stick defensive midfielder Adrian Sweeney has committed to Syracuse men’s lacrosse, Brent Axe announced on social media Sunday. Through two years at Cicero-North Syracuse High School, he recorded 95 goals and 26 assists.
Sweeney is the third member of the Orange’s 2027 class, joining top-ranked goalkeeper Moe Sobel and fellow four-star midfielder Quincy Quillard. Standing at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, the Northstars’ junior is the No. 100-ranked overall recruit and No. 34-ranked SSDM, per Inside Lacrosse.
In 2025, Sweeney led the Northstars to the 2025 Section III Class A Semifinals, where they fell 18-7 to West Genesee High School. Aside from high school, Sweeney plays for Upstate 2027 Black, which is part of a national travel program based out of Lombard, Illinois.
After its 2026 campaign, Syracuse will lose top talent from its 2022 class, including Joey Spallina, Michael Leo, Billy Dwan III and others. Recruits like Sweeney, Quillard and Sobel will aim to strengthen SU’s future alongside its fifth-ranked 2026 class, which includes one five-star, five four-stars and one three-star recruit.
