Syracuse men’s lacrosse continued to add to its 2027 class with the commitment of long pole Jake Goodwin, syracuse.com’s Brent Axe reported on Monday. Goodwin is a three-star prospect, per Inside Lacrosse, and marks SU’s seventh commit and first defenseman in the class.

Goodwin, who stands 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, adds another ferocious body to SU’s defense of the future. He forced 40 turnovers and scooped up 51 ground balls for Lawrence Academy (Massachusetts) in 2025 while also playing for Hilltop Lacrosse. Albeit against high schoolers, his caused turnovers mark would have ranked first on the Orange last season, likely giving them a boost when he joins the squad in two years.

He joins an already strong 2027 group, too. Previously, Syracuse gained pledges from top-rated goalie Moe Sobel and numerous offensive standouts such as 4-star midfielders Adrian Sweeney, Garrett Sullivan and Quincy Quillard.

SU’s strong recruiting is an effort to replicate its resurgent 2025 season. The Orange claimed their first Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament title since 2016 and reached the Final Four for the first time since 2013. Despite being dismantled by Maryland to end its season, Syracuse also notched signature wins over then-No. 7 Johns Hopkins, then-No. 5 Notre Dame and then-No. 3 Princeton.
