Moe Sobel, a five-star goalie from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has committed to Syracuse men’s lacrosse, Ty Xanders announced on social media Monday. Sobel becomes the first member of the Orange’s 2027 class.

Sobel is Inside Lacrosse’s seventh-ranked recruit and the top-ranked goalie in the class of 2027. He played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (Pennsylvania) but will transfer to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, for his junior and senior campaigns.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound goalie posted a 68% save percentage with the Blue Devils, earning All-American honors as a sophomore. Sobel also starred for Prime Time Lacrosse, an elite travel lacrosse program based in Cross River, New York.

With Sobel being named the National Lacrosse Federation’s No. 1 overall recruit, his commitment is Syracuse’s first top-ranked pledge since Joey Spallina in 2022.
