After competing at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, Syracuse men’s cross country jumped five spots in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll to No. 6. The squad finished third in Wisconsin and reached its highest ranking of the season.
SU’s women’s team stayed unranked. It received four votes this week, fourth among unranked teams, after receiving seven in the last poll.
In the regional rankings, the men have maintained a top spot in the Northeast Region, while the women jumped from third to second after starting the year in fourth. This puts the women into a position to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, since the top two teams from each region automatically qualify.
Both teams return to action Friday for the John Reif Memorial, hosted by Cornell. The meet is the last regular-season race before the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships begin the following Friday in Louisville.
