Syracuse field hockey ranking didn’t change in the Week 5 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll Tuesday, remaining at No. 5. The Orange downed Colgate 5-1 over the weekend, improving to 9-2 on the season before upcoming games against Stanford and California.

On Friday, SU overwhelmed the Raiders, recording 32 shots in its third straight win. Five different players scored a goal for the Orange.

Syracuse earned 166 points in the poll, tied with Wake Forest for fifth. SU didn’t receive any first-place votes. Northwestern remained at No. 1 with 220 points, followed by No. 2 Virginia (208), No. 3 North Carolina (199), No. 4 Harvard (186) and then Syracuse and Wake Forest.

The Orange were one of six teams in the ACC ranked in the poll, joined by Virginia, North Carolina, Wake Forest, No. 9 Duke and No. 19 Louisville.

SU opened the year with six straight wins, its best start since 2017. Syracuse has been ranked as high as No. 4 this season, its best ranking since head coach Lynn Farquhar took charge of the program in February 2023.
