Syracuse goalkeeper Ava Drabyk was named the Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. The award comes after Drabyk helped SU sweep Delaware this weekend, totaling a .979 save percentage across two contests.

In the Orange’s 2-1 overtime victory at Fred Rust Ice Arena on Friday, the freshman played nearly 65 minutes. Over 14 were shorthanded, but Drabyk remained composed, stopping all but one of UD’s 26 shots. It was the first time this season a Syracuse netminder conceded one or fewer goals.

On Saturday, the Saskatchewan, Canada, native notched her first career shutout in SU’s 1-0 triumph over Delaware. Drabyk saved all 22 of the Blue Hens’ shots on net, with half of her production coming in the first period.

SU had the luxury of the NCAA’s all-time saves leader, Allie Kelley, in its crease from 2023-25. The Orange have since orchestrated a three-goalie rotation, featuring Drabyk, Bella Gould and Maïka Paquin, through their first eight games.

Drabyk’s performance and honor could distinguish her from the rest of the bunch as AHA play intensifies.
