Syracuse goalie Ava Drabyk was named the Atlantic Hockey America Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. This week, she posted a .919 save percentage in two games against RIT last weekend, her second straight week nabbing a conference award.
In SU’s 5-2 win over the Tigers on Friday, Drabyk saved 29-of-31 shots and helped it move over .500 for the first time this season. The freshman held RIT scoreless until Riley Gramlich and Ireland Stein slotted home two goals in the third period.
Even in the Orange’s 4-1 loss to the Tigers on Saturday, Drabyk performed admirably again, saving 28-of-31 shots. Saturday’s contest was also the fourth consecutive matchup in which the Canadian allowed three or fewer goals after she surrendered 14 in her first four starts.
Drabyk claimed AHA Rookie of the Week honors last week following strong outings against Delaware on Oct. 17 and Oct. 18.
