Syracuse forward Peyton Armstrong was named the Atlantic Hockey America Forward of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. The sophomore tied a conference-high four points last weekend in the Orange’s sweep over Stonehill, recording two goals and two assists in the victories.
In Syracuse’s 3-2 win on Friday night, Armstrong contributed an assist to forward Emma Gnade’s second-period goal. The tally put the Orange up 3-1, a lead they didn’t relinquish.
The following day, Armstrong racked up a career-high three points in SU’s 8-2 demolition of the Skyhawks. After assisting on Syracuse’s first power play goal of the season, she added two goals to give it a commanding 6-0 lead heading into the third period.
Armstrong is now tied with Gnade for the team lead in points with four, and continues to provide life for an SU attack that struggled in its first two games. Despite being shut out twice against then-No. 6 Minnesota Duluth on opening weekend, Armstrong has been a critical piece for a now-.500 Syracuse squad trending in the right direction.
