Syracuse wide receivers coach Myles White is no longer with the program, Fran Brown announced Monday. Brown confirms the initial report from Doug Samuels of Footballscoop.com, who detailed that changes were coming to SU’s staff, which involved White and Nunzio Campanile.

“Sometimes styles make fights, and there’s different things of that nature to go around,” Brown said of the decision. “But for us to get the best out of our players for the last three games of the year, for us to possibly try to go and fight, to be able to have a fourth game and to do all the things that were needed, I felt as though there was some stuff that needed to happen on our staff.”

Brown confirmed Campanile is still with the program, but will now coach tight ends, a position he held in 2023 under Dino Babers. Meanwhile, White lasted just one year with Syracuse. The 35-year-old replaced Ross Douglas, who left SU this offseason to take a job at Oregon.

White previously spent time with the Green Bay Packers in the NFL as a coaching assistant. Before that, he was Miami University’s (Ohio) wide receivers coach from 2022-23, as well as at Stephen F. Austin in 2021.

With White’s absence, Syracuse’s coaching staff has undergone a shuffle. Offensive specialist Josh Gattis will assume White’s responsibilities coaching receivers and as the passing game coordinator. Michael Johnson is swapping places with Campanile and will coach quarterbacks for the rest of the season.

Brown said he wanted to make changes now to see if they work, rather than at the end of the season, where there’d be “no trial and error.” The second-year head coach added this is the best opportunity to go out and win games. The Orange need to close the season with three straight wins to clinch their fourth straight Bowl game but have a tall task ahead with trips to No. 18 Miami and No. 10 Notre Dame.
