Bo van Kempen and Lieke Leeggangers were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America teams, the organization announced Tuesday. Van Kempen earned First Team status, while Leeggangers claimed a spot on the Second Team.
Van Kempen secured All-America honors for the second straight year, capping off a decorated career with the Orange. During her time in central New York, the NFHCA Mideast Player of the Year earned back-to-back All-Atlantic Coast Conference and NFHCA Mideast All-Region First Team honors.
The Zevenaar, Netherlands, native started all 20 games for SU in 2025 and starred on both sides of the ball. Anchoring both the back line and the attacking penalty-corner unit, van Kempen posted a team-high four defensive saves, while her 23 goals ranked third in Division I and second in all-time SU history.
This is Leeggangers’ first career All-American selection. A four-year member of the Orange, the Dutch midfielder made 19 starts this year while playing all 20 matches this season. She brought much-needed experience to a team of 17 newcomers, which included 13 freshmen. Like van Kempen, Leeggangers also earned All-ACC and NFHCA Mideast All-Region First Team honors.
Van Kempen is still in contention to win the National Player of the Year, which will be announced Thursday.
