Syracuse cornerback Kaylib Singleton plans to enter the transfer portal, he announced on social media Monday. Singleton appeared in eight games during his freshman season and has three seasons of eligibility left.

In 2025, Singleton played 105 defensive snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. The cornerback finished with a 62.3 overall grade and 62.4 coverage grade, the third-highest among SU cornerbacks.

The Orange Park, Florida, native was the second-highest rated player in Syracuse’s 2025 recruiting class, only behind coveted two-way prospect Demetres Samuel Jr. A three-star recruit, per 247Sports, Singleton was the 82nd-best cornerback in the 2025 class and 100th-best player out of Florida.

Singleton is one of the more significant Syracuse players to enter the transfer portal so far. Linebacker Derek McDonald was an experienced player but saw limited time, missing the final eight games with a hip injury. Wide receivers Emanuel Ross and Jaylan Hornsby were highly-touted recruits but couldn’t find snaps in a crowded receiver room.

Defensively, the Orange haven’t lost any starters to the portal yet. Antoine Deslauriers and Samuel Jr. intend to return, while Chris Peal makes up the returning secondary alongside Samuel Jr. Syracuse gave up 252.6 passing yards per game last season — the sixth-worst mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference — while its defense allowed 34.9 points per game. Singleton could’ve had an avenue towards increasing his play time next season but is choosing to pursue his options elsewhere.
