Syracuse freshman Aaron Womack plans to redshirt for the 2025-26 season, SU Athletics announced Friday. Womack was the only player on the Orange’s roster to not appear in a game yet this season.

A 6-foot-6 guard out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Womack committed to the Orange in September 2024. He was ranked by 247Sports as the ninth-best player in the state and a three-star recruit. Womack was selected First Team All-Metro Classic Conference his senior year of high school and is one of five freshmen on SU’s roster this year.

The idea of a redshirt for Womack was first brought up externally by Syracuse head coach Adrian Autry following its win over Drexel in Philadelphia on Nov. 15. When asked about the possibility, Autry said there were ongoing discussions about shutting down Womack for the season.

“Super talented,” Autry said of Womack. “We just got to figure out what’s the best decision for him. We’ll talk about that as we move forward.”

Womack is still available to practice and travel with the team and will have four years of eligibility remaining.
