Syracuse goaltender Ava Drabyk was named the Atlantic Hockey America Goalie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. The honor comes after Drabyk recorded back-to-back shutouts in SU’s road sweep of Robert Morris this past weekend.

Following a trio of first period tallies from the Orange, the freshman backed up her team’s offensive surge by stopping all 19 shots she faced Friday evening in a 3-0 triumph. Saturday afternoon, Drabyk turned in yet another flawless 19-save performance as her team secured its fourth straight victory to open 2026.

Drabyk’s performance against the Colonials epitomized what Syracuse has come to expect from its newest netminder this season. Tuesday’s honor marked Drabyk’s third Goalie of the Week award and fifth individual accolade this season, as she’s quickly become a stable presence within the pipes.

“She’s probably just building more and more confidence as we go,” SU head coach Brinti Smith said of Drabyk after SU’s first game against RMU.

The young netminder has every reason to be confident. Coming off her third straight shutout, Drabyk’s 616 total saves rank first in the AHA, and her 2.07 goals against average sits second in the conference behind Penn State’s Katie DeSa. Drabyk’s stellar .931 save percentage also sits second in the AHA and 14th in the country, and no freshman goalie has more shutouts than Drabyk’s five in 2025-26.

Syracuse entered this season unsure what its goaltending situation would look like in the wake of Allie Kelley’s departure. Thanks to Drabyk’s ascension into SU’s No. 1 goalie spot, that concern has been emphatically silenced. With plenty of games left on the schedule, it seems the Orange will go as far as their up-and-coming goalie will take them.
