Several Syracuse University buildings will close early Sunday following extreme winter weather, according to a campus-wide email.
Over one foot of snow is expected in Syracuse between Sunday and Monday morning, combined with temperatures around 10 degrees as part of a larger winter storm sweeping the country. The storm is expected to impact over 180 million people, and has already resulted in flight cancellations and school closures for Syracuse and Onondaga County.
The following buildings are set to close early Sunday, according to the email:
- The Schine Student Center will close at 7:30 p.m.
- Goldstein Student Center will close at 7 p.m.
- Barnes Center at The Arch will close at 7 p.m.
- All campus libraries will close at 4 p.m.
- Hendricks Chapel will close at 3 p.m.
As of Sunday afternoon, dining halls will operate under regular hours. Campus transportation, including Centro buses and safety escort shuttles, will function as usual.
The email urges students to stay inside,only leave when necessary and check the Orange Alert App for updates.
The MakerSpace and Information Technology Services Help Desk will both remain open during their usual hours.
Multiple food options within Goldstein will also close early, according to an email sent to South Campus residents. Students can check the status of dining locations on the campus dining website.
SU will announce any changes to Monday’s schedule through the Orange Alert App’s SU Weather Alert.
