Former Syracuse wide receiver Emanuel Ross transferred to UConn, he announced on social media Monday. Ross tallied 188 receiving yards in two years with the Orange and will join former SU assistant Nunzio Campanile with the Huskies.

Ross joined the Orange once Fran Brown’s staff took over. He was committed to Stanford for six months after receiving offers from top Big Ten, SEC and Atlantic Coast Conference schools. Ross was also offered by former head coach Dino Babers’ staff but didn’t consider SU. Two weeks after Brown was hired, Ross decommitted from the Cardinal and committed to the Orange.

Campanile was SU’s quarterbacks coach and then moved to tight ends coach midseason. He then took the UConn offensive coordinator job this offseason, joining Jason Candle’s staff with the Huskies.

A four-star recruit out of Red Bank Catholic High School (New Jersey), Ross preserved his redshirt in 2024 by playing just four games and recorded 78 receiving yards. As a sophomore, Ross played six games with 110 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Ross was part of the young core at wide receiver that never found its groove following the season-ending injury to Steve Angeli. The Orange will have a totally rebuilt wide receiver unit in 2026 as Darrell Gill Jr., Johntay Cook II, Ross and Jaylan Hornsby all transferred out and SU brought in recruits Calvin Russell III, Amare Gough. FSU’s Elijah Moore, Cole Weaver from Miami (Ohio) and Matt Outten from Penn State recently joined the Orange through the transfer portal.
