Former LSU running back Ju’Juan Johnson has reportedly committed to Syracuse, On3 first reported Tuesday. Johnson confirmed the report by reposting the news on his Instagram and X accounts. Johnson tallied 169 rushing yards in two seasons with the Tigers and has two years of eligibility remaining.

A four-star recruit out of Lafayette Christian Academy in Lafayette, Louisiana, Johnson made a name for himself as a star high school quarterback. He set state records for total yards and touchdowns and was Louisiana’s Mr. Football in 2023. He chose the Tigers over offers from Oregon, Penn State, Ole Miss, Texas, Alabama, Georgia and a litany of others.

Johnson made the move to cornerback for college but then later switched again to running back in his freshman campaign after injuries weakened LSU’s depth. He appeared in every game in 2024 and tallied a receiving touchdown.

The next season, Johnson played in all 13 games again, with one start. He secured 155 rushing yards on 41 carries with two touchdowns. Johnson is a key pickup for the Orange after they lost Yasin Willis to the transfer portal and Will Nixon to graduation. He’ll join Tylik Hill as a main contributor in the backfield.
