Syracuse goalie Ava Drabyk was named to the Hockey Commissioners Association National Goalie of the Year Watchlist, the organization announced Wednesday. The honor comes just a day after Drabyk won the Atlantic Hockey America Goalie of the Week award for the third time.

Drabyk is one of 31 goaltenders nationally to make the list, which includes last year’s winner in Wisconsin’s Ava McNaughton. From the AHA, Penn State’s Katie DeSa and Robert Morris’ Maggie Hatch also made the cut.

In her freshman campaign, Drabyk has successfully filled SU’s void in net after NCAA all-time saves leader Allie Kelley left the program. The Saskatchewan native’s 2.07 goals against per game rank second in the AHA and 18th in the nation. Additionally, she leads the conference with 616 saves.

Despite inconsistencies to begin the year, Drabyk has been nearly flawless recently with three straight shutouts. She also hasn’t allowed more than two goals since Nov. 22 against Mercyhurst, propelling SU to a 6-1-2 record over its last nine games.

SU’s netminder aims to help it rebound this weekend against No. 4 PSU after getting outscored 18-2 by the Nittany Lions in November.
