Syracuse women’s lacrosse was ranked No. 11 in Inside Lacrosse’s preseason poll, which was released Monday. The Orange’s 10-9 2025 season ended in the NCAA Tournament Second Round with a 9-8 defeat to No. 7 seed Yale.

In 2026, SU is scheduled to play 10 teams in the top 25, with six ranked ahead of it. The Atlantic Coast Conference has the most teams of any conference in the poll with eight members, six of which Syracuse faces. SU’s first three contests — Feb 6. versus No. 7 Maryland, Feb. 13 versus reigning national champion No. 1 North Carolina and Feb. 20 at No. 5 Stanford — are all against opponents ranked ahead of it.

The Orange enter the campaign under a new regime following former head coach Kayla Treanor’s departure for the same position at Penn State, which ranks 23rd. With the hiring of SU men’s lacrosse alumnus and former associate head coach Regy Thorpe, Syracuse also brings along a collection of new players.

Without program assist leader and former attack Olivia Adamson, who departed for last year’s NCAA Tournament runner-up No. 2 Northwestern, the Orange had an eventful offseason. They added players like Courtney Maclay (Stony Brook) in the transfer portal and draw specialist Mackenzie Borbi from their incoming freshman class.
