Syracuse midfielder Molly Guzik and goalie Daniella Guyette were added to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, the foundation announced Thursday afternoon. The pair joins teammates Coco Vandiver and Emma Muchnick, who were named to the list on Feb. 10.
The quartet sits in a pool of 75 players in the running for college lacrosse’s top honor. Guzik and Guyette are two of the final 13 additions before the field narrows to 25 nominees on April 16.
After a quiet freshman season, during which she lacked confidence, Guzik has exploded for a team-high 27 goals this year, driving SU’s current eight-game winning streak. She’s recorded four hat tricks and has started all 11 of Syracuse’s games after occupying a bench role in 2025.
Guzik told The Daily Orange that first-year head coach Regy Thorpe has unlocked her full potential, allowing her to break free in her sophomore year. She’s also added six assists, ranking third on the Orange and contributing to her team-high 33 points.
Yet as Thorpe has said all season, SU’s “backbone” is its defense, and Guyette anchors that unit. Playing the top three teams in Inside Lacrosse’s most recent poll certainly wasn’t favorable for the goalie, but she’s still notched five performances with a 50%-plus save percentage.
Her 7.07 goals against average ranks fourth in the nation and second in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and she’s only surrendered double-digit goals twice — against No. 1 North Carolina and Louisville.
The Orange capitalized on an unranked opportunity Tuesday, topping UAlbany 10-8. Going forward, Guzik and Guyette must continue to boost Syracuse through four more ranked matchups and the postseason.
