Syracuse forward Aaron Womack will enter the transfer portal, Syracuse.com’s Donna Ditota reported Tuesday. Womack didn’t appear in a game for SU this season and redshirted, which was announced on Dec. 5.
Womack becomes the first Syracuse player to enter the transfer portal after Adrian Autry was fired earlier this month. With Gerry McNamara taking over, Womack could be joined by others in the portal, which officially opens a week from Tuesday.
Coming out of Dominican High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Womack was rated a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He was the ninth-best player in Wisconsin and the 61st-best small forward in the country. Womack had limited interest from Power Four schools but committed to Syracuse in September 2024.
Womack was part of a freshman class which included Kiyan Anthony, Sadiq White Jr. and Luke Fennell. White and Anthony’s production was inconsistent throughout the season. Anthony started out the season strong but fell off during conference play. White showed flashes with his athleticism, though never truly broke through. Meanwhile, Fennell’s action was limited, and Womack’s decision to redshirt came a month into the season.
